Children & Family Ministries

Children's Church
During our second service (10:30) we meet in the sanctuary for the beginning of service and following the children’s message, we head upstairs for children’s church. Kids ages five through fifth grade enjoy mission projects, puzzles and games. Children’s church is not offered on the 1st Sunday of each month so children can worship and take communion with their parents.

Nursery
The nursery is available during both Sunday services, special services, meetings and events.  It is recommended for children that are too young to attend preschool, J.A.M. Zone or Children’s church.

 

We offer many special events and opportunities to meet the needs of our families.  Please be sure to sign up for special events or to call the office so your children are in our count for safe sanctuaries guidelines and to be sure we have all the supplies we need for these activities.

 

Bible Basics Class
This class is designed to give kids in grades 3-5 a chance to dig a little deeper with skills such as looking up passages in the Bible, understanding the old and new testaments as well as communion and the resurrection.  Parents and adults are welcome to attend too! 

This class is offered April 3 – 17, 2011 at 9:00 a.m. during the Sunday school hour.  Bibles will be presented to the children during the Mother’s Day church service.

One-room Schoolhouse
During special times in the year, we offer programs for kids and their families that are both fun and educational. Recently, during Lent, we served dinner and followed that with an adult study and, for the kids, a one room school house from 1880’s.  Preschool kids through fifth grade joined in for a short lesson (15 mins) and then learned about all the stuff kids were doing when our church was first founded (1881!).  Other activities included working with leather, making cool stuff and of course recess. Pictures of our One Room Schoolhouse.

Kids' Night In / Parents' Night Out
Periodically throughout the year, we offer a special evening for kids and their parents. Kids are dropped off at the church at 5:00 p.m. for a night of pizza, a movie, popcorn, creating a craft and games, while their parents enjoy a special evening of adult time.  We try to offer this no cost evening two – three times a year J

Easter Egg Hunt
Join us on the Saturday before Easter for our annual Easter Egg Hunt!  Toddlers through fifth grade can enjoy crafts and candy.  Be sure to bring a basket or a bag for all your eggs. 

Vacation Bible School
This year we will again offer an evening VBS for kids ages 3 (and potty trained) through 5th grade.  Our program this year is designed by Habitat for Humanity and will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on June 20-24, 2011.  Dinner is included at a cost of just $10 per child. More VBS information here!

Back to School Campout in the Courtyard
The campout in the courtyard is quickly becoming a favored end of summer tradition.  Kids and a parent are invited to spend the night in tents in the courtyard, eat hot dogs and smores and of course watch a movie and have fun before the school year begins.  We’ll let you know when the date is scheduled.
