Communion

The Lord’s Supper (Communion) is served at each regularly scheduled worship service at First UMC. This practice has its roots in the very beginning of Christianity, drawing its practice and authority from Jesus’ act of service and blessing on the night he was betrayed.

 

First UMC follows the lead of the greater United Methodist Church in offering an open communion table, with all who are in attendance invited to come forward and take part in this defining ritual. By accepting the invitation of Jesus Christ, as echoed by our clergy leaders, we once again accept the Grace and hope that is available to everyone through faith in Christ.
